respite from {un}packing

Amidst the chaos and clutter of brown corrugated and packing paper flying around, we took a few extra minutes at lunch to beat the unpacking blues.  A little edible art always makes an afternoon of smiles, although my 11 year old boy seems to be too grown up for this project.

To paint your toast you'll need:
milk and food coloring
paint brushes
bread (wheat worked great)
toaster
butter

Directions couldn't be simpler:  Mix color and milk, paint, toast, butter and enjoy!

And look what M happens to be wearing, truly my lucky day!  I've been wanting to snap the girls in the first iron-on shirts we did.  WE really did do this shirt.  I had the deer ready to go and she was determined to have the baby on there and contemplated for quite a time on the placement, moving them here and there and back again.  This is a vinyl iron-on and has endured a good many washings with no sign of wear.

all stressed out

The year 2009 has been a year of stress and upheaval for our family.  Truth be told it started even a little farther back when we got a great offer to move back to San Antonio and made the move despite still having a vacant home on the market in Utah.  This put us in a home rental situation, one I came to accept until one day in February when we received 2 weeks notice to move thanks to foreclosure.  We took the only rental in our school boundaries that accepted pets and had enough square footage to house our family and banberryPLACE, and made the move.  Fast forward a few short months and our owners are moving back to town and want their house back!  We are leary of renting again, how many times can this possibly happen to one family?  We don’t want to find out.  We scrambled and found a really fabulous house (back on our other street) that will enable us to get banberry out of our main living space once I can afford some reno.

We have an amazing lender/realtor team working double time to help us close on or as close to on time as possible but there is a strong likelihood that we’ll have a couple of days living in a hotel with a couple of moving trucks hogging up all the parking slots.  It feels like homeless to me, the kids ask if we will be hobos, Terry takes my mom’s point of view that it’s an adventure.  Any way you slice it, it’s a lot of work and uncertainty.

I am closing down the shipping dept. of banberryplace and hope to be restarted by the 21st.  I will do my best to keep y’all posted if there are further delays … it all kinda depends on how long our ‘adventure’ lasts.

Even though my nerves feel like they’ve been turned inside out and I might burst into a come-apart at any moment I am looking forward to being settled and doing some real sewing.  Please be patient with me during this trying time.
